Affiliate Disclosure

Effective Date: September 28, 2026

Cyber Recaps is free to read, and part of what keeps it running comes from affiliate links. If you buy a product or sign up for a service through one of them, we may earn a commission. It never costs you more. This page explains which links those are, where you will find them, and how we mark them.

Why we tell you

When a website earns money from a product it mentions, you deserve to know that before you click. The US Federal Trade Commission asks for exactly that in its Endorsement Guides, and so does the Amazon Associates Program. We agree with both: knowing who pays a site helps you judge what it recommends.

Our editorial rules

Affiliate relationships never decide what we write. We recommend a product because we think it is worth your time, not because it pays a commission. No company pays to be covered in our daily news digest or to be left out of it, and no company sees our text before it is published.

What an affiliate link is

An affiliate link is an ordinary link with our partner code added to it. If you click it and then buy or sign up, the company pays us a small commission. You pay the same price you would pay by going there directly, and some partners give you a discount or free credit for arriving through the link. The code tells the company that the visit came from this website. It says nothing about you.

Who we work with

Amazon. Cyberrecaps.com is a participant in the Amazon.com Services LLC Associates Program. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. We use Amazon links mainly for the books we recommend.

Proton. Our Proton links are Proton referral links, for Proton VPN, Proton Mail, Proton Pass and the rest of the Proton suite. If you sign up for a paid plan through one, we may receive a reward from Proton.

The tools on our Contribute page. The Cloudways, Vultr and MailerLite links on our Contribute page are referral links too. These are the services we use to run the site and the newsletter.

Where you will find them

Articles and glossary pages. When one of these pages holds an affiliate link, a short "Affiliate disclosure" note sits right under the author line, above the content. Articles also carry a Proton banner with its own disclosure line.

The daily news digest. A story that holds an Amazon link opens with the same note. Most digests also carry a Proton banner between the stories, again with its own disclosure line.

Image banners. Some pages show an image banner that links to a product, for example a book on Amazon. Every paid banner carries the line "CyberRecaps is supported by its readers" above it.

The Contribute page. It lists the tools we use to run the project and says plainly that some of its links are referral links.

How we mark them

Every place that holds an affiliate link says so in plain words, next to the link, not only on this page. The footer of every page repeats Amazon's statement. We also mark affiliate links as sponsored for search engines, so they pass no ranking credit to the companies they point to.

Patreon is not an affiliate link

Patreon is different. It is direct support from you: no company pays us a commission when you become a patron. That is why our Patreon links carry no disclosure note.

Your privacy

Affiliate links and banners do not track you on this site. They are plain links, they store nothing on your device, and the banner images are served from our own domain, so nothing loads from Amazon or any other partner while you read. Once you land on a partner's site, that site may set its own cookies and collect data under its own privacy policy. Section 10 of our Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy have the details.

Questions

If you have a question about a link or a partner, write to us at contact[@]cyberrecaps[.]com. We update this page whenever a partner is added or dropped.
